Description

Hundreds of British beachgoers in Weymouth Bay celebrate the first anniversary of Victory Day, marking the Allies' victory against Germany in May 1945. This colorful depiction highlights the electrified mood of the population. Sir Muirhead Bone served as the official war artist during World War II. Having been appointed in 1916, Bone captured this happy moment after having lived through two world wars.
