Description

Maki achieves an embossed effect in his prints by creating a sculptural surface on his printing block. He works his designs in wet cement on the cut-out areas of a woodblock and textures the cement before it dries. Dampened paper is pressed deeply into this highly irregular surface during printing, resulting in the raised areas visible in the final print.
