Description

This image is made up of plants and grasses formed into abstract shapes, creating a tension between the nearly photographic depiction of natural forms and the geometric design elements of the composition. Nakabayashi demonstrates a fascinating adaptation of the Western etching technique, creating a depth of surface that is recognizably Japanese in its feeling for texture and in the play of black and white that recalls the ideals of traditional calligraphy.
