Description

Santo Tomás Chichicastenango, a mountain town at an altitude of 6,447 feet, is 87 miles northwest of Guatemala City and is the commercial center of the Quiché region. Known for its traditional K’iche’ Maya culture, it is the site of a large market where vendors sell everything from animals and tools to handicrafts and flowers--a colorful outdoor spectacle that attracts natives and tourists alike.
