Larry Fink’s technique in Social Graces is the same, whether he is photographing in a New York City ballroom or a rural Pennsylvania kitchen.

Description

In these crowded spaces, Larry Fink often must shoot quite close to his subjects. Because the light is limited, he uses a handheld flash, which can be very harsh light. Fink softens that in printing so that the figures are set into relief rather than flattened.
