Did You Know?

After studying lithography in the United States, Gego established her own printmaking studio for artists in Caracas.

Description

Gego, a German-born artist who spent her life and career in Venezuela, made this print during a fellowship at the Tamarind Lithography Workshop in Los Angeles. The work relates to a style that the artist called “Kinetic Art,” which focused on the viewer’s perception of an image, usually by using bright colors and patterns to attract the eye. Here, for example, Gego created playful systems of line and juxtaposed the absence and presence of forms.
