An early adherent of vegetarianism, when Weston was done making his vegetable “portraits,” he ate their subjects.

Description

Weston’s vegetable still lifes accurately record their humble subjects, yet at the same time imbue them with suggestive references to the human body. Friends sought out and brought him unusually shaped produce. He photographed this multilobed radish seven times, creating a different composition for each negative. This print is believed to be the only one ever made from this negative.
