Did You Know?

The inscription, “Betty Six Toes if Not More” below the image is not the title of the print but rather a humorous and nonsensical phrase added by the artist.

Description

This print by the artist Leon Golub is among the first lithographs he made while living in Chicago with his wife, the artist Nancy Spero, after they both graduated from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1949. The lithograph features a contorted human face and body in keeping with Golub’s interest in male aggression and vulnerability throughout his career.
