About The Event

This event is canceled.

When Leonard C. Hanna, Jr., died in 1957, he left a bequest of more than $33 million dollars to the Museum. He served the museum in many ways beginning in 1914 when he was appointed to the Advisory Council.  His involvement continued until his death.  In Sherman Lee’s words, “ Leonard was… interested in theater … he was very much interested in art, he had a good eye. He was so affable and easygoing, just marvelous.” Hanna’s financial generosity, along with his art collection, placed the museum in the enviable position of becoming all that its founders could possibly have desired.

This lecture is co-hosted by the Cleveland Museum of Art and the Department of Art History and Art at Case Western Reserve University.
