TeenCo Lab (a CUC program)
What is TeenCo Lab?
The Cleveland Museum of Art’s new virtual teen program welcomes students from various Cleveland high schools to become a part of the museum team. Teens engage in weekly activities that invite them to explore the museum world, building skills in teamwork, planning, writing, research, design, leadership, creative problem-solving, and communication.
This fall, members of TeenCo Lab will work together virtually throughout the semester with the museum to create a Teen Zine about their experiences.
Program participants will receive:
- Art Kits with basic supplies
- Partner Level Museum Membership
- Published copy of the final Zine project
Who participates in TeenCo Lab?
To qualify for the program, applicants must be high school students in grades 9 through 12 at the start of the program. We encourage teens with diverse educational and personal interests to apply. There are no pre-requisites required, including no previous art history or visual art experience necessary. Teens will use creative and critical thinking skills to work with artists, museum staff, and other teens to learn about museum practices and the diverse cultures and lived experiences embedded within them. We urge teens to always ask, “Why?” as we dive deep into important social issues and topics of today, using the CMA’s collection and living artists as models for creativity and change.
